This course provides exposure and basic understanding of weaving bags from plastic rope as well as the materials used to complete an item. The equipment used includes different types of plastic rope, appropriate rope splitters and the preparation of patterns according to the type of motif that is to be made. The final finishing work including making a handle for the bag was also revealed to the students. A solid understanding of the function of each process will produce a beautiful and neat plastic bag craft that can be used by students while also contributing to the community through voluntary activities.
This course provides exposure and basic understanding of making motifs from Sarawak beads as well as the materials used to complete an item. The equipment used includes the type of beads, the appropriate string and the preparation of a pattern according to the type of motif you want to make. A solid understanding of the function of each of these processes will result in beautiful and neat bead crafts that can be used by students while also contributing to the community through volunteer activities.
This course is designed to improve students' soft skills and expose them to community service through traditional folk theater course activities. Students will learn the basics of theater about history, introduction, basic acting skills as well as how to produce a traditional aristocratic theater and play the Sarawak drum instrument called 'bermukun'.
This course is designed to improve the student’s soft skill and expose them in community service through the activities in jawi writing course. Students will learn how to write in jawi and learn about jawi writing theory, basic through sharing session, demonstration by facilitator and hands-on. Besides, it provides the guideline on how to cultivate the art of Jawi writing.
This course is open to all students who are interested in learning and applying basis of singing or basic vocal technique. Among topics discussed include breathing technique, using muscles for breathing support, proper pronounciation, articulation and expression, how to produce strong vocal projection, pitch control, dynamics and vocal warm-up exercises. The students are also encouraged to organize solo and/or group performances and will be assessed periodically. At the end of the program, they are expected to have gained more confidence, skills and able to perform in public or UNIMAS live shows.
This course aims to teach beginners on the piano/keyboard how to play pop songs using basic chords and learn songs by reading a lead sheet: a common musical notation used in pop music.
This course offers students of varying levels of interest and talent to participate in group singing or a choir. Students will study a variety of musical work and styles as an ensemble. Memorizing their music and follow conductor cues, group exercises, individual practice, demonstrations, and warm-ups will become their focus to a proper breathing and blending pitch.
This course is provided to students who are interested in playing musical instruments through the application of basic knowledge of music theory and practical, as well as the appreciation of musical instruments. 'Basic Ukulele' combines 4 basic types of ukulele which are soprano, concert, tenor and baritone. Each type of ukulele is distinguished by size, tone and tuning. Students will learn and play the musical instruments together which form an 'Ensemble' where communication, understanding and cooperation are required.
This course is provided to students who are interested in playing musical instruments through the application of basic knowledge of music theory and practical, as well as the appreciation of musical instruments. 'Three Families Ensemble' is a combination of musical instruments from 3 different musical instrument classifications by the Sachs-Hornbostel System. The combination of Kalimba (Idiophone), Lyre Harp (Chordophone) and Melodica (Aerophone) produces a unique sound through their respective tones and timbres. Students will learn and play the musical instruments together which form an 'Ensemble' where communication, understanding and cooperation are required.
This course is designed to help students understand the basics of composing and writing lyrics from scratch. Students are introduced to commonly used song genres, styles and techniques. Students will also learn how to compose songs digitally using a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). In addition, composers' fundamental rights related to intellectual property will be shared in the study.
Drum Circle provide a wonderful experience for anyone who like percussion. Percussion-based musical instruments can be used as a medium for players to reduce stress in everyday life. Drum Circle is a method of playing drums and percussion instruments in a circle collectively. No experience and deep knowledge in the field of music is required in this course. This course will lead students to explore their inner creativity as well as communicate more confidently in front of an audience through interesting group activities.
This course provides a basic knowledge on theatre for young audience. In this course, students will learn various techniques for performing in front of a young audience. From storytelling to group performances, theatre for young audiences course provides participants with a valuable experience that allows them to improve their creativity, boost their confidence, and create a live performance in front of the young audience.
This course provides students with an understanding and appreciation of choir music, including its history and styles. Through hands-on experiences and collaborative capstone project, students will learn basic vocal techniques, music theory, choir management, and performance skills. The course aims to foster teamwork, discipline, and a love for music.
This course will expose students to the fundamentals of musical theater. Students will learn about musical theater's history, characteristics, acting, singing, dancing, and production. Students will present musical theatre at the course's end.
