Overview
The department was instituted within PPP in August 2014. Recognizing that admission to university is not a free pass to gaining satisfactory employment, a variety of activities need to be carried out to enable students to improve their abilities and skills. Academic achievement alone is insufficient
The department is responsible for planning, running, and monitoring employability exercises for students, as well as ensuring that students nearing graduation are prepared physically, mentally and spiritually such that they are capable of grappling with the reality of the working world at the present time. The department must ensure every program it conducts is capable of endowing future graduates with the attributes of employability and marketability.
In addition to holding career-related activities such as the Innovation, Career and Education Fair, or ICE, the department also in involved in organizing and conducting activities such as:
- CV, Grooming and Interviewing Workshop.
- CV Clinics for individuals and small groups.
- Career talks from industry representatives.
- Interviews with industry representatives at UNIMAS.
- Assistance with Industrial Attachment and Internship placements.
- Providing the Industrial Engagement Zone or Ind-E-Zone to allow students to obtain information about industries and to meet with industry representatives in an informal and comfortable environment.
- All these activities are provided to students to help put students one step ahead before they enter the workforce. Nonetheless, students must also be active in co-curriculum activities since they represent another avenue to improve and develop their own marketability.
Therefore, the establishment of this department enables assistance for students to improve their skills, abilities and marketability for their eventual graduation.
