Overview
The department was established within CSD in August 2014. Recognizing that admission to university does not guarantee satisfactory employment, a variety of activities are necessary to help students improve their abilities and skills. Academic achievement alone is insufficient.
The department is responsible for planning, running, and monitoring employability initiatives for students, ensuring that those nearing graduation are prepared physically, mentally, and spiritually to face the realities of the modern workforce. The department must ensure that every program it conducts equips future graduates with the necessary attributes for employability and marketability.
In addition to organizing career-related events such as the Innovation, Career, and Education (ICE) Fair, the department is also involved in activities like:
- CV, Grooming, and Interviewing Workshops
- CV Clinics for individuals and small groups
- Career talks from industry representatives
- Interviews with industry representatives at UNIMAS
- Assistance with Industrial Attachment and Internship placements
- The Industrial Engagement Zone (Ind-E-Zone), providing a space for students to gather industry information and interact with representatives in an informal and comfortable environment.
These activities are designed to give students a competitive edge before entering the workforce. However, students must also actively participate in co-curricular activities, as they offer another important avenue for enhancing their marketability.
Therefore, the establishment of this department provides essential support for students, helping them improve their skills, abilities, and marketability as they prepare for graduation.
